A WOMAN has pleaded not guilty to the murder of her grandmother earlier this year.
Joanne Hussey, 33, will stand trial at Leeds Crown Court next month accused of murdering 76-year-old Annie Garbutt.
Mrs Garbutt’s body was found at her home in The Clough, Mirfield, back in May.
Mrs Garbutt was a widow and is understood to have lived alone in the cul-de-sac in the Battyeford area of the town.
Hussey, of Grange Mount, Yeadon, formally entered her not guilty plea to the murder allegation during a brief hearing before Judge Scott Wolstenholme at Bradford Crown Court.
The judge confirmed that Hussey's trial was fixed to start at Leeds Crown Court on October 15 and he remanded her back into custody until that date.
The trial is expected to last about five days.
