A WOMAN died after being hit by two cars as she walked on a motorway.
The 55-year-old was walking on the southbound carriageway of the M1 near junction 39, at Calder Grove, Wakefield.
Now police are appealing for witnesses to the incident, which happened at 9.10pm on Thursday night.
She collided with a VW Passat in lane one and then a Ford Focus in lane two.
The woman, from Crigglestone, Wakefield was pronounced dead at the scene.
Nobody else was injured but the motorway closed for two hours.
