YOUNG Woman Engineer of the Year Katie Deacon will be on a panel discussing ‘green’ technology.

The Kirklees Council energy engineer is taking part in the event at the British Association for the Advancement of Science Festival in York next Wednesday.

Panel members will be discussing the pros and cons of alternative energy sources.

Katie, who was named Young Woman Engineer of the Year earlier this year, has developed a renewable energy ‘tool kit’ for architects and engineers.

She is developing a system to monitor consumption of electricity, gas and water in building complexes.

The discussion, which will include audience participation, is at the chemistry department of York University and is open to the public.
