A MIDDLE-AGED woman found dead in a stream had drowned.
A post-mortem revealed the 52-year-old’s cause of death and an investigation into what happened is still going on.
The woman – who has not been named – was found in a stream in an area known as Dogley Bar, off Penistone Road, Kirkburton.
The grim discovery was made at 4.20pm on Sunday and police immediately sealed the area off overnight with tape.
A white tent covered the spot where the body was found.
The investigation is being headed by Supt Tim Forber, from West Yorkshire Police’s Major Enquiry Team, which is usual until a death can be definitely ruled as definitely not suspicious.
The post-mortem was carried out yesterday.
A police spokesman said: “We are still investigating the circumstances leading to the death and cannot release a name at this stage.”
