A WOMAN was hurt in a road accident at Birkby.

The middle-aged driver suffered back injuries when her silver hatchback car hit a wall.

The crash happened on Birkby Hall Road close to its junction with Bryan Road at 12.20pm yesterday.

A little girl was in the car, but she was unhurt.

Firefighters were called to help free the woman from the badly damaged car.

They had to force open the driver's door which had been buckled by the force of the impact.

The car was damaged beyond repair by the crash.

The woman was taken to Huddersfield Royal Infirmary for treatment, but was not badly hurt.

No other vehicle was involved.
