POLICE are appealing for witnesses following a robbery in which a young woman was hurt.

The 21-year-old victim was attacked as she walked along Heaton Road at Paddock just before 5pm on Thursday.

She was heading back from the town centre when males, believed to be teenagers, approached her from behind.

The first male ran past the victim and grabbed at her bag, while the second pushed the woman causing her to fall to the ground.

The bag was then wrenched from her grasp as the second suspect pushed the victim further causing a head injury.

The woman then gave chase to the teenagers, who were last seen heading along a snicket into Heatherfield Crescent.

She was treated in hospital for a small cut to her head and bruising.

The bag was later retrieved from a nearby garden with a purse missing.

The first male is described as aged 15-19, 5ft 9 with short dark hair and slim build.

He was wearing black tracksuit bottoms and a dark zipped top.

The second male is described as aged 14-17, slightly smaller and slim with short black hair.

He was wearing a grey hooded zip-up top with black lines, dark bottoms and trainers.

Both are believed to be mixed race.
