A YOUNG woman is still in hospital after sustaining serious injuries in a road accident.

The 24-year-old pedestrian collided with a car on Newsome Road in Newsome and was thrown on to the bonnet and windscreen.

The woman, who is a student, was taken to Leeds General Infirmary’s intensive care unit.

Police mounted a major incident inquiry after the 7am incident and have appealed for witnesses – especially passengers who were at the bus stop close to the scene.
