A WOMAN was taken to hospital after a fire at her Rastrick flat.

She was cooking a ready meal in the microwave, but it caught fire at 8.45pm last night.

The burning crispy pancakes with duck filled the flat with smoke.

At one point the woman fell in the flat and suffered a head injury.

She was taken to hospital by paramedics for a check-up.

Firefighters used a large fan to blow the smoke from the home.

Fire damage was confined to the microwave.
