A WOMAN was taken to hospital with head injuries after she was attacked by two men as she walked home alone.

The 52-year-old was assaulted shortly before midnight on Saturday in Kirkburton.

She was walking along North Road after attending the music festival in Kirkburton with friends.

She was approached by two Asian males in what is believed to have been a pale blue Citroen Saxo.

The men shouted obscenities before one got out of the car, grabbed her and hit her in the face. The other man then joined in the attack.

The woman managed to retaliate against one of the men, and it is believed she may have caused some facial injuries to him. She was taken to Dewsbury Hospital with serious head injuries and is due to go to Pinderfields Hospital, Wakefield, for further tests.

The first suspect is described as an Asian man, 5ft 7ins tall and of average build. He may have had small facial hair around the chin and spoke with a local Asian accent. He was wearing a black T-shirt, khaki combat style three-quarter length trousers and white trainers.

The second suspect is also described as an Asian man and was wearing black foot wear.
