FIREFIGHTERS led an elderly woman to safety after a fire at her Marsden home. The retained crew from the village were at the house in Carrs Street in minutes from getting the call at 7.25am today. Watch Manager Paul Mellors said: “She was still inside when we arrived and we led her to safety. She had suffered smoke inhalation and we gave her oxygen before she was taken to Huddersfield Royal Infirmary for a check-up.” The fire started when material was put over a gas heater. The damage was confined to the heater.
