A WOMAN was rescued by firefighters after a blaze at her flat.

The woman, believed to be in her 30s, was taken to Huddersfield Royal Infirmary after fire crews used an aerial ladder to rescue her.

The fire happened at 4.20pm yesterday at a flat in the Kingscliffe development off Halifax Old Road.

The cause of the fire is not yet known but a pile of clothing was near to the seat of the fire in the living room of the first-floor flat.

Watch manager Andy Flynn said: "It wasn’t a particularly bad fire but the woman was not able to get out.

"We gave her oxygen at the scene and she was taken to hospital."

Two pumps from Huddersfield were at the scene for 90 minutes. The woman’s injuries are not serious.
