A WOMAN was taken to hospital following a fire in her home.

The 27-year-old suffered smoke inhalation when blaze started in the kitchen of her Woodsome Estate home in Batley. Firefighters from Dewsbury and Batley attended the fire just before 7am on Saturday. They used two hose reels and four sets of breathing apparatus. The woman was taken to Dewsbury District Hospital for a precautionary check-up. Andy Crowther, station manager at Batley fire station, said the fire was accidental. He said: “We want to urge people to always be vigilant when cooking and never leave pans unattended.”
