A WOMAN was hurt in a bizarre accident in Golcar.

She had reversed her car out of her garage up a short steep drive on Fullwood Drive at 1.30pm yesterday.

Her young daughter was in the back but then the VW Golf started to go forwards again towards the garage.

The woman in her 40s tried desperately to pull the handbrake on by leaning into the car through the half open door.

But as she did the car door hit the side of the garage door, pinning her between it and the car.

Neighbours rushed to help and managed to free the stricken motorist before Huddersfield firefighters arrived.

Huddersfield crew commander Mark Hurd said: “She was badly shocked and had suffered hip and leg injuries. We gave her oxygen therapy before the ambulance arrived.”

The woman was taken to Huddersfield Royal Infirmary but her injuries were not thought to be serious.
