A WOMAN who falsely claimed she had been raped in Huddersfield has been told she could be sent to prison.

Emma Goodwin, 24, of School Houses, Salendine Nook, appeared at Bradford Crown Court yesterday after admitting perverting the course of justice.

But her sentence was adjourned until January.

Goodwin, who was said to have mental health problems, sparked a nine-day police inquiry last September.

She had told police she had been dragged into scrubland at Linthwaite and raped.

The suspected attacker was dubbed the Teatime Sex Beast.

The Recorder of Bradford, Judge Stephen Gullick, was told that a man was locked up for a night as part of the inquiry.

Goodwin's barrister, Jayne Beckett, asked for the sentence hearing to be adjourned so that a report from a psychologist could be obtained.

Judge Gullick granted Goodwin bail to appear at court again on January 14.

But he stressed to her that all sentencing options - including prison - were still open to whoever dealt with her case.
