A WOMAN who fell from a bridge above the M62 is recovering in hospital, police said yesterday.
The shocking plunge took place several hundred yards from Junction 23 Outlane exit at 4.30pm on Thursday.
The woman landed on top of a van on the eastbound carriageway but survived.
Drivers rushed to help her and police and Highways Agency officers cleared an area for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance to land .
Medics at Leeds General Infirmary are treating her for serious leg injuries.
A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said inquires were being made as to how the woman landed on the busy motorway.
