DOZENS of women braved the cold and rain to prepare for a charity run in Greenhead Park, Huddersfield.

More than 70 women put on their running shoes to take part in the first of 10 training sessions for the Race for Life events in June.

The keen group carried out circuits of the park to increase their fitness for the 5km runs on June 18 and 19.

The race - organised by Cancer Research UK - is the country's biggest fundraising event for women only.

Entrants of all ages and levels of fitness are encouraged to join in and people can choose to walk or run the course.

The training sessions will take place every Thursday from 5.45pm.

The Examiner is the official media sponsor for the Huddersfield race.
