A LARGE part of Brighouse woodland has been devastated by fire.
Three pumps were needed to tackle the blaze in the wood off Lillands Lane last night.
It was spotted at 9.30pm and firefighters had to ferry water to the scene from the nearest hydrant half a mile away.
They also used beaters and backpack aquapacks.
Trees, bushes and scrubland covering 5,000 sq metres was destroyed.
