A CHEF who trained in Paris has taken over as the head of a Whitley pub.
Michel Olieivier and his wife Juliet took over at the Woolpack Inn six weeks ago.
They have already transformed the food menu and plan to convert the 10 bedrooms into a family-friendly bed and breakfast.
The Parisian chef has worked at top restaurant the Ivy in London and some of the UK’s top hotels.
But he and wife Juliet wanted a new challenge.
Mrs Olieivier, landlady of the Whitley Road pub, said: “We are working really hard to take this pub back to how it used to be years ago.”
The couple come from the hotel trade and have previously worked in Yorkshire.
They viewed several pubs in the area but took over at the Woolpack public house and restaurant because of its potential.
Mrs Olieivier added: “When we saw this pub we knew it was the one for us. The area is so lovely, it has everything we needed.
“Good food can really make a pub.
“We just want this place to be warm and welcoming to people who want to come and visit.
“It is our first pub business and we are really enjoying it so far.”
