A ROUNDABOUT is to be built on a main road to a housing estate.

Work starts on the Wakefield Road, Lepton, roundabout on Monday.

It will provide access to new homes on the former Elliots Brickworks site.

In addition, traffic- calming measures - including traffic islands and white lines - will be introduced between Lascelles Hall Road and Rowley Lane.

While the work is in progress there will be a temporary speed restriction of 30mph.

The message to drivers is that keeping to the speed limit will enable the work to go ahead safely.

Contractors expect to be there about 25 weeks.

A Kirklees Council spokeswoman said: "Disruption to traffic will be kept to a minimum."
