THERE was drama on a Meltham farm yesterday when the Yorkshire Air Ambulance came to the rescue of a stricken worker.

The 60-year-old man received a six-inch long gash to his head after he fell from a hay lorry at about 10.40am at Half Roods Farm.

The helicopter landed in an adjoining field and the victim was taken to Huddersfield Royal Infirmary for stitches to the cut.

The man remained conscious throughout his ordeal while his wound was dressed by paramedics at the scene.
