A QUICK-THINKING worker prevented a fire from spreading.

The blaze broke out at Croslee tumble dryer factory in Hipperholme at 4.45pm yesterday.

A member of staff doused the flames with a fire extinguisher.

Brighouse Fire Station watch commander Kevin Ogden said: “When we got there the factory was full of smoke but an employee had managed to put out the fire with a dry-powder extinguisher.

“The fire seems to have been caused by an over-heated bearing.”

Firefighters spent around 30 minutes at the factory, where the White Knight tumble dryer is manufactured.
