The Hunting Act will have an enormous economic and social impact on the countryside and rural livelihoods. The Conservative government will therefore introduce a Bill to repeal the ban - and, in accordance with precedent, there will be a free vote.

Further education colleges are the training powerhouse of this country, yet they are grossly under-funded and are expected to do more each year with less money. How will your party redress this balance and give further education the cash it deserves?

Martin Deans

Labour have neglected the further education sector and cut its funding.

We will transform the sector so that our colleges are seen again as a central part of our education system - as they are in the United States. All colleges would be eligible to become part of one of a new network of super-colleges and national specialist colleges.

Are you prepared to ask real people for input into issues that affect us all? There are too many institutionalised people running our government and public sector.

Julian Bartholet

Yes, certainly. I agree. Labour has immensely expanded the quango state and downgraded local democracy.

It is a national scandal that pensioners should be made to pay tax to fit out new offices for Labour quangos.

So we will scrap 168 unnecessary quangos and rebuild local democracy.

We will axe Labour's forest of London-set targets that distort priorities in local schools and hospitals and put local professionals, such as doctors, matrons and headteachers, back in the driving seat.

And we have new ideas to let local people drive local policy. Take policing, for example. Police are currently controlled by politically correct targets set nationally by ministers.

We will let you elect your local police commissioner, so that local police reflect local priorities.

Accountability is at the heart of good government and a healthy democracy.

We all know that when people think they can get away with it, they won't do things as well as they should.

That is why I have published a Timetable for Action, setting out exactly what I will do and when I will do it.

We have set out exactly how we will act to deal with the things that really matter to people - cleaner hospitals, more police, school discipline, controlled immigration, and lower taxes.

People will then be able to hold us to account for our actions, just as they have a chance
