KIRKLEES residents are being invited to get creative and enter a Christmas competition.

Its internet-based Intouch Reading Circle wants people to write poems, prose or book reviews.

And work will be posted directly on to the reading circle website.

The theme for the competition is Names, inspired by the writing of Christmas cards and thoughts of loved ones at the festive season.

The group was originally started by 76-year-old full-time volunteer Carol Lawrence, who worked for Kirklees Digital TV website, at the end of 2002.

Diane Sims who works for Kirklees Digital TV website said: "It's about encouraging people to produce their own work and it's an easy virtual way of keeping people in contact"

There are a total of £100 of book vouchers available to winners of the competition.

You can enter through the Reading Circle at www.kirklees.gov.uk/readingcircle or by post.
