CELEBRATED poet and writer Simon Armitage begins a year-long collaboration with Yorkshire Sculpture Park with the launch of his latest work.

Simon's new book, Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, is a translation of one of the earliest great stories of English literature.

It will be launched at the Sculpture Park at West Bretton, on January 27.

The book launch will be at 4.15pm with Marsden-born Simon reading from his book.

The Sculpture Park has its 30th anniversary this year and its celebrations of that milestone include a number of projects including its appointment of Simon as its Visiting Artist 2007.

The appointment strengthens an already long-standing relationship between Simon and the park and gives him the opportunity to produce work inspired by the landscape, by the art on display and by the many people who go to West Bretton to enjoy both.

Tickets for the launch at YSP are £3, redeemable against book purchase, and are available on 01924-832631.
