The X Factor will bring a welcome Christmas gift to Huddersfield youngsters.

The Brackenhall-based Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice is one of the charities who will benefit from festive sales of the talent contest’s upcoming single release, which will go on sale on December 14.

It has been made possible by the charity’s partnership with Together for Short Lives, which helps the centre and was chosen as one of X Factor’s chosen charities this year.

Due to get a sizeable donation, they will be crossing their fingers that whichever X Factor finalist is crowned the winner, will make it to the festive number one slot.

The talent show reaches a climax this weekend when the three final acts - Fleur East, Ben Haenow and Andrea Faustini - compete to win the lucrative record deal.

Record label, Syco, which signs the winning singer, has agreed to donate 100% of its profits from the sale of each CD single and download and from streaming to Together for Short Lives- about £1 for each CD and 20p for each download.

It will be the third year that the hospice has received funding thanks to the show.

Liz Paver, Director of Fundraising at Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice, said: “We are so pleased to be receiving some of the proceeds raised from the winner’s single.

“It will make a real difference to our children and families and we can now continue to create special moments for them that they will remember forever.”

The X Factor finalists will perform their prospective winner’s single live during the talent show final at the SSE Wembley Arena on December 14 and the song will be available to download straight after the winner is announced.

Judge, Simon Cowell, said, “I’m delighted that The X Factor’ winner’s single sales will help families who are going through unthinkably difficult times.

“The money we hope to raise will really make a difference.”
