X FACTOR star Carolynne Poole has thanked the thousands of fans who offered her support and encouragement through her rollercoaster TV ride.

The singer, from Birkby, who made it as far as the judge's houses stage also said she didn't go onto the hit ITV show for five minutes of fame, but wanted to follow her long-term dream of gaining a record deal.

She also said she was "gutted" to have been given Louis Walsh as a mentor saying she would have preferred Gary Barlow.

Two artists from Huddersfield did have better luck than Carolynne. Jordan Higo and Ashford Campbell, both members of group Nu Vibe, have made it through to the live performances, which start on Saturday.
