A WOMAN attacked weeks before her wedding is getting married today.

Belinda Coldwell spent hours in hospital after she was glassed in the face at Yates’ Bar in King Street.

But despite her terrible ordeal the 26-year-old was determined to focus on her wedding to the love of her life.

She will marry fiance Chris Kelly at Huddersfield Methodist Mission and enjoy a big reception with 200 family and friends.

Miss Coldwell, from Crosland Moor, was left battered and fearing for the sight in her left eye after the brutal early-hours attack.

She was worried that her injures would be visible when she walked down the aisle.

But speaking to the Examiner before the big day she said she was excited to be a bride – and told how a good Samaritan had come to her rescue.

She said: “I’m a bit nervous as the day gets nearer but I’m also very excited.

“Chris and I have been together for six years and I can’t wait to get into my dress in the morning.

“What happened is not something I’m ever going to get over but the wedding has kept me going and given me something positive to look forward to.

“It’s amazing that the bruising has almost gone.

“I have a big scar down my nose but a lady who specialises in covering up bruising and scaring contacted me after reading about me.

“She’s offered to do it for free and it’s fantastic that there’s people like her out there thinking of me.”
