Santa dash from town centre bar

A TOWN centre venue is backing this year’s Huddersfield Santa Dash.

Yates’s wine bar in King Street is to be the base for hundreds of charity Santas.

Huddersfield Lions organise the annual Santa Dash, held this year on Sunday December 9 from 10.30am.

Yates’s bosses have offered their venue as a check-in point for those taking part, and the one-mile town centre spectacle – which involves a run, walk, hop or skip – starts and finishes outside the bar.

There will be a special cut-price deal on bacon sandwiches and hot drinks.

The dash has so far signed up 200 runners but the limit is 500 so there’s still time to enter. The idea is that all those taking part raise money for their own charities, national or local, big or small. Last year’s dash raised £6,000.

Adults wear Santa costumes while youngsters sport reindeer antlers and flashing noses. Entry is £5 for adults and £2.50 for under-11s.
