A MAN says young yobs are making his life a misery to such an extent he may have to move house.

Stan Frontczak, 41, also says police have been slow to react to his continual complaints about criminal damage.

But when he chased, cornered the troublemakers and then shouted at them they complained about him and officers were at his house within minutes to warn him about his conduct.

Mr Frontczak and other residents on Sunningdale Road in Crosland Moor complained bitterly about troublemakers, burglars and drug dealers blighting their lives in June 2004.

Things improved for a while, but have deteriorated again since last October. Mr Frontczak said the youths aged 10 to 14 had started by throwing pebbles at windows and doors.

But they have got worse and smashed three windows on an old Volvo he owned.

It was so badly damaged he had to scrap it.

On Wednesday night his van window was smashed causing £170 damage. He said he was working on his computer in a bedroom and saw them do it.

That followed an incident on Monday night when he chased a group of youths throwing stones, caught two of them in an alleyway and shouted at them.

He said: "The police told me not to touch the youths at all, but to leave it to them and dial 999 if there was any more trouble.

"But when I did on Wednesday it took them ages to respond.

"Yet when the youths complained about me on Monday, officers were on my doorstep within 10 minutes."

He added: "I just feel they are powerless to do anything about these yobs. I now feel I want to move house, driven out by a gang of kids."

He said the gang has a hard core of six, but sometimes grows to 10.

He added they hang around the junction of Nabcroft Lane and Everard Street in Crosland Moor.

"They are creating misery and havoc," he said. "What started off as a nuisance problem with pebbles has become wanton destruction.

"We need more police patrols in the area during the late afternoons and evenings."

Sgt Paul Denton, of Huddersfield Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: "We have now spoken to Mr Frontczak and assured him that high visibility patrols will be carried out in the area.

"We will track down the culprits and take appropriate action against them."
