EMPLOYEES at Yorkshire Bank have given up all non-essential business travel this month to help cut carbon emissions.

The bank’s first No Travel Month means staff – including workers at the New Street branch in Huddersfield – are ditching their cars and train journeys in favour of contacting clients by telephoning, conference calls and emails.

The bank has made a commitment to become carbon neutral by 2010 and last year reduced its “carbon footprint” by 72% compared to the previous 12 months.
