CHARITIES and community groups in Huddersfield are set to benefit from a funding boost.

Yorkshire Building Society, which has its roots in Huddersfield, is inviting people to nominate good causes to share in its annual week-long charity giveaway – Make a Difference Week!

The week, which runs from this Friday to Saturday June 6, is organised by the Bradford-based society’s charitable foundation.

Customers and the public are invited to call into any of the Yorkshire’s 134 branches and 65 agencies to recommend a charity to receive a £50 donation.

The foundation was formed in 1998 – since when it has handed over £3m to more than 7,000 charities.

It gets most of its funds through the Yorkshire’s innovative Small Change, Big Difference scheme where members donate pennies from the interest on their accounts to make a huge pot of money.

Members are invited to join the scheme and suggest which charities should benefit from these funds.

To nominate a charity call into any Yorkshire Building Society branch during Make a Difference Week, visit www.ybs.co.uk/branchfinder or ring 0845 1200100.
