FUNDRAISERS will pledge allegiance to ‘God’s Own County’ at a special Yorkshire Day event next month.

Members of the Huddersfield Committee of Yorkshire Cancer Research will recite the Yorkshire Declaration at a gathering at the Pennine Manor Hotel in Scapegoat Hill on August 1.

Spokesman Keith Crawshaw said: “We’ve been celebrating Yorkshire Day in this way for many years.

“Everyone has to wear a white rose and read the declaration of allegiance together, which is always quite a rousing moment when everyone says it together.

“Being from and living in Yorkshire still means a lot to me and a lot to many Yorkshire people around here.

“The night not only recognises this but raises vital funds for a worthy Yorkshire charity that helps saves thousands of lives across the Yorkshire region every year.”

Tickets for the Yorkshire Day event cost £15. Doors open at 7pm. To book a place call 01484 642368.
