HEALTH experts from NHS Yorkshire and the Humber are urging people to give up smoking.

And as today marks World No Tobacco Day, they are suggesting they do so as soon as possible.

Director of public health at NHS North of England Paul Johnstone said: “If you smoke, giving up is the best thing you can do to improve your health.

“Most smokers have tried to give up at some point and most will tell you that it isn’t easy.

“However NHS stop smoking services in Yorkshire and the Humber helped 26,833 people give up between April and December last year.”
