ROADS will be closed off as soldiers of the 3rd Battalion The Yorkshire Regiment Duke of Wellington’s parade through Halifax.
A special homecoming parade is taking place in the town centre tomorrow, from 11.40am.
People can line the streets to show their support, respect and thanks to the troops following their return from a six-month tour of duty in Afghanistan.
The parade will start from the Shay Stadium at 11.40am and will go along Union Street South, Union Street, Market Street, Crossley Street, Princess Street, Southgate precinct, Wards End and Horton Street, arriving in the Piece Hall by noon.
At 12.30pm the parade will march from the Piece Hall, down Horton Street, Square Road, Alfred Street East and Church Street to Halifax Minster.
Following the service, the parade will march at 3pm along South Parade and Hunger Hill to the Shay Stadium, where the troops will be welcomed for a private reception hosted by Calderdale Council.
The roads mentioned above and around the Shay and in the town centre will be temporarily closed.
