HOUSING in Yorkshire will get a £6m boost.

The extra funding, announced by Housing Minister John Healey, will fund nearly 200 new affordable homes throughout the region.

It will also support nearly 6,000 jobs.

A further £4.4m will help get stalled developments back on track. The minister said: “I’ve given the go-ahead for over £10m to get another 210 workers on sites in Yorkshire and the Humber to build much-needed new homes in the region and help strengthen the economic recovery.

“This public investment has been a vital boost to jobs and housebuilding during the recession and it’s equally important to economic growth in the future.”
