Huddersfield’s latest burger restaurant is set to open to the public at lunchtime on Monday.

PAX Burger, run by award-winning chef Eric Paxman, will serve its first gourmet burgers from noon.

Eric opened up for specially-invited guests on Friday night as a “trial run” ahead of the big day.

And it went down well with Examiner chef and writer Stephen Jackson.

He was among the guests and tweeted: “Great meal at .@paxburger tonight - wonderfully messy burgers, perfectly done. Incredible sides, esp. the wings (best I’ve had in yrs).

“No doubt, @paxburger is destined to be a huge success. A wonderful addition to the #Huddersfield scene.”

The opening follows a six-week refurbishment of the former La Cocina restaurant in Lidget Street, Lindley.

Designed and fitted out by Elland-based Andy Thornton Contracts, the interior reflects a rustic theme and incorporates a large bar area and seating spread over three floors.

It’s corporate colours are vivid yellow.

Eric, who also owns and runs Eric’s restaurant in Lindley, said: “PAX Burger brings something completely different to Huddersfield.”

“Everyone has been working flat out to get us ready for the opening and the hard work has paid off.

“I’m a bit nervous but very excited about the opening and seeing how customers react to PAX. It’s something completely new for me and Huddersfield, but we’ve had a great reaction so far and lots of interest, so we’re confident it will be a success.”

PAX Burger has created 20 new jobs and will offer nine different types of burger including the signature PAX, a beef patty in a brioche bun, and a spicy version called PAX A Punch.

The bar will serve American-style cocktails including Rum Punch, Whiskey Mac and Strawbet Shake.

There’s also freshly-made boozy milkshakes including What The Fudge with a hefty measure of Appleton rum blended with fudge and a pinch of sea salt.

PAX also dares you to try a Scotch Bonnet Bourbon, a straight up measure of super spicy Jim Beam infused with some of the hottest chillies around.

PAX burgers are made with 100% fresh ingredients, locally-sourced.
