Bon Jovi superfans travelled from as far as Israel, Finland and Sweden to see the US legends rock the McAlpine Stadium.

The band's One Wild Night tour saw fans pack into stadiums across Europe for sell-out shows, with some queuing outside Huddersfield Town's football ground from 9am to bag the best spots in the front rows.

The band played a bumper two-and-a-half hour set to the euphoric crowd, featuring hits including Raise Your Hands, You Give Love A Bad Name, Livin' On A Prayer, Bad Medicine, Lay Your Hands On Me, Sleep When I'm Dead and Bed Of Roses.

Fans gave the show a resounding thumbs up.

Dave and Caroline Reid, of Newsome, told the Examiner: "Bon Jovi were every bit as good as when they first appeared on the scene in 1983."

IT manager Tim Wood, of Paddock, said: "It was great that they played a greatest hits set, a cross-section of songs from their while back catalogue, rather than concentrating on recent material.

"The band, audience and venue were all supberb."

The show also attracted younger fans, who were just as thrilled.

Emma Rattigan, 14, of Gomersal, said: "It was amazing, especially the fireworks. My throat kills from screaming and I can't hear anything.

"The atmosphere was so brilliant we felt we were on top of the world."

Sales manager Colin Reader, of Leeds, said: "It was magic. The lighting especially was over and above what I expected."

Nurse Emma Griffith travelled from North Yorkshire for the show.

She said: "Jon is downright sext. The cowboy hat really did it for me."

Jon Bon Jovi arranged for disabled fans who attended the concerts to receive gifts.

PC Dave McSweeney of Huddersfield police said: "There were about 60 disabled fans and Jon sent them each a free Bon Jovi t-shirt. It was a great gesture."
