Police are seeking information about an assault in the street in Slaithwaite.

A 36-year-old man was attacked by a gang of four or five others at the junction of Churchwood Close and Station Road at between 7.30pm and 8pm on Wednesday.

It is believed the victim suffered a cut to his scalp and was released after hospital treatment.

Det Insp Stef Wiseman, of Kirklees CID, said officers had spoken to the man briefly and appealed for any witnesses to come forward.

The circumstances of the attack were not clear and two or three vehicles may have been involved.
