YOUNG musicians from the Huddersfield area were praised as a music festival closed.

Marilynne Davies, the adjudicator at this year's Haydn Wood Musical Festival, praised the high standard of the contestants.

And she said it had been a pleasure to hear the quality of music.

Mrs Davies also praised the smooth running of "the warm and friendly festival".

The Deputy Mayor of Kirklees, Clr Mary Harkin, was the special guest for a prizewinners' concert at the end of the festival, which was held at Linthwaite Methodist Church Centre.

Next year's festival is on November 5 and 6.
