A HUDDERSFIELD girl has helped to raise more than £1,500 in memory of her grandfather.

Alicia Brady, 14, of Kirkburton, sang a 45-minute set at a concert organised by mum Veronica and great- uncle Adrian McCullagh at St Patrick's Centre, Trinity Street, Huddersfield.

The concert - which also featured Alicia's singing teacher Shelley Stevens - raised £1,518 for the British Heart Foundation.

Shelley College pupil Alicia has been training with Shelley Stevens since the age of 10 and has performed at a series of fundraising gigs across West Yorkshire.

But this was Alicia's first fundraising gig in Huddersfield. She decided the funds should go to the BHF in memory of her grandfather, who died of heart failure.

Veronica said: "It was special for all of us. The turnout was fantastic. We had over 200 people and everyone was really supportive."
