NEWSOME staged its very own mini Olympics to get more young people involved in sport.
Around 50 youngsters aged between seven and 16 took part in a one-day event at Newsome High School and Sports College.
It was organised by John McFadzean, youth development officer for Holmfirth Harriers and Huddersfield Neighbourhood Police sergeant, with Newsome Next Generation community project.
Activities included traditional sports day games such as egg-and-spoon and sack races as well as athletics disciplines like javelin, long jump, hurdles and an agility course.
Several other activity days have been organised during the summer holidays for Newsome youngsters and they will culminate with a two-day athletics competition at the end of the month.
