ABOUT 100 childminders, children and parents enjoyed a healthy picnic and a toddle in Greenhead Park, Huddersfield.

The event was to mark National Childminders' Week and there was plenty of exercise and healthy eating.

It was all to help raise awareness of childminders.

There was a tomato and spoon race and the Barnardo's Toddle, when under-fives and their parents walked for half a mile and raised money for the charity.

Youngsters also received goody bags containing items given by local businesses and organisations.

Margaret Berry, chairman of Kirklees Childminding Association, said: "It was fantastic. We had a great day.

"Even though the weather was poor people turned out in their droves. We had some shelter and in between the showers we had lots of fun!"
