A VILLAGE church is being decorated with bunting for next Saturday’s Last Night of the Proms.
Meltham Parish Church will be decked out in Union Jacks as music-lovers wave flags to classic songs such as Land of Hope and Glory and Jerusalem at the fourth annual village event.
Audience members are being encouraged to take their own flags along to the musical extravaganza, with music by Meltham and Meltham Mills Band and guest singer Elaine Clelland.
Church spokesman John Mitchell said: “This is a popular village event. The church seats 300 people and we expect a near-capacity audience if previous such concerts are anything to go by.”
Proceeds from the event will be divided between the church and the band.
The Last Night of the Proms starts at 7.30pm and tickets cost £6, including refreshments. They are available at Scotty’s Barbers in Market Place, Meltham, or on the door on the night.
