A THUG thumped a 16- year-old boy in the face in a motiveless attack.

The victim, from Fartown, was walking down New Hey Road, Oakes, when he was confronted by the attacker and another youth.

The incident was outside St James' Catholic Church, opposite Oakes police station, at 4.15pm yesterday .

Sgt Tim O'Sullivan, of Huddersfield police, said: "This was a completely motiveless attack and left the victim with a bruised and swollen face."

The thug was described as white, aged 19 or 20, 5ft 10in with "a scrunched-up face".

He wore a grey hooded top and a shiny black cap with a Nike tick logo.
