A NEW young people's "pod" has opened in Almondbury.
The youth shelter is next to the multi-court in Southfield Park, Aldonley.
It was provided by the Almondbury ward area committee after it carried out a survey of young people in the area.
Young people, police, tenants' representatives, councillors and neighbourhood wardens visited the shelter for the first time this week.
"Pods" have become popular in several areas of Huddersfield over the past couple of year with similar shelters being created for Lepton, Holmfirth and Denby Dale youngsters.
They aim to provide a meeting place for young people and have been built alongside other facilities for them aimed at deterring youth crime and vandalism.
