TWO teenagers were arrested at Leeds Bradford Airport after making comments about bombs.

The 18-year-olds were arrested on Thursday after they were heard making the comments.

Officers from the Airport Neighbourhood Policing Team interviewed the two.

They found there was no basis for the comments and no threat – but the two men were given penalty notices for public order offences.

Insp Simon Hepworth, of the team, said: “It is important that we send out a strong message that bomb hoaxes are extremely reckless, malicious and irresponsible – even more so in the current climate.

“Bomb hoaxes take airport staff and police officers away from genuine incidents and can also cause needless alarm to members of the public.

“West Yorkshire Police will take such incidents in the most serious manner.

“We will make every effort to trace and prosecute anyone making hoax threats or calls.”
