A 64-YEAR-OLD woman was conned by two youths who claimed to be looking for a ball.

She was at home in New Laithe Hill, Newsome, at 2pm on Monday when the youths climbed into her back garden.

She challenged them through a window.

One of them then went into the kitchen through an unlocked door and stole a shopping bag and contents worth £25.

Both climbed over the fence into fields and fled.

One was described as white, aged 17, 5ft 6in tall, slim with short brown hair and a thin face. He wore a blue hooded jacket.

The other was white, aged 17 to 18, 5ft 8in tall, and of medium build. He had very short hair and wore a white T-shirt.

* A 75-year-old woman fell victim to two conmen in a greetings card shop in the Packhorse Centre in Huddersfield.

One of the men asked the woman to read a card to him on Monday at 11.45am.

While she was distracted, the second man stole her purse from her bag,

It contained £30 and store loyalty cards.
