ENGLAND fans trying to keep their cool are set for a World Cup treat.

Denby Dale-based ice cream maker Yummy Yorkshire has come up with a one-off beer-flavoured ice cream as an alternative to the traditional cans of lager to celebrate the tournament.

The ice cream – on sale at the firm’s own parlour – has been concocted using the 4.2% Farmers Beer from the Bradfield Brewery, based in the Peak District.Yorkshire.

But Yummy Yorkshire co-owner Louise Holmes said the cooking process meant the ice cream contains hardly any alcohol.

Said Louise: “We knew we wanted to create a distinctive flavour for the World Cup, but didn’t want to go down the obvious route of country-related flavours.

“Beer goes hand in hand with watching football so we felt it was a great, sweet alternative to the traditional tipple.”
