ZULUS took over a Brighouse school for the day – much to the delight of pupils.

The Mighty Zulu Nation visited William Henry Smith School to lead workshops in their culture and traditions.

Helen Callaghan, the school’s community liaison officer, said: “They loved it – it’s been a brilliant event and the whole school has been able to get involved in the workshops. At the end of the day they did a performance with singing and dancing to the rest of the school, which was just fantastic.

“We’re looking at other cultures and it’s related to community cohesion and looking at the benefits of citizenship and making our pupils aware of the wide world.”

Pupils made shields and costumes during the workshops and also worked with pupils at their partner schools – Brighouse High School and Alder Primary School.
