It's the Investec Derby at Epsom this Saturday and it should be a terrific spectacle, even though heavy rain has been forecast.
Australia is meant to be the next wonder horse although, as I write this column, he is on the drift in the betting markets.
That’s because he is such a short price that punters are taking him on, but his performance over a mile in the Qipco 2000 Guineas (finishing third) was exceptional for a horse bred to race a mile and a half.
I don’t see anything getting close to him in the Derby, to be honest.
If I was looking for a good each-way bet then I would go for True Story.
The Godolphin star ran a fantastic first race at Newmarket before really disappointing in the Dante, but plenty of horses run at York and, for some reason, don’t find their form.
If True Story gets back to his Newmarket form he could push Australia all the way, so he would be my each-way choice.
